Step 3: Vote!
In Person Ballot:
Early voting is available across campus for students who are registered to vote in East Lansing! Locations for early voting will be advertised on campus during the 40 days before the election. You can also find them at the Michigan SOS website.
Once at your designated polling location, check-in with your clerk and follow their instructions.
Absentee Ballot:
Students who would like to vote absentee must be registered to vote and submit an application.
Once you have received your absentee ballot you must complete it, sign the return envelope, and return it to your local clerk’s office either by mail or in person to a drop box provided by your local clerk or to your local clerk’s office. An immediate family member or housemate can also drop it off for you. If you can’t mail or drop off your ballot or have an eligible person mail or drop off your ballot for you, you can ask your city or township clerk to pick up your completed ballot. If you need your clerk to pick up your ballot, you must call your clerk by 5 p.m. on the Friday before Election Day.
Absentee voting deadline: Must be received by your clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day, unless you are serving in the military or living overseas, for example, studying abroad. For these voters, absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the clerk’s office within 6 days of the election.
